Eensulate

Eensulate

Development of innovative lightweight and highly insulating energy efficient components and associated enabling materials for cost-effective retrofitting and new construction of curtain wall facades.

Project Specs

The project’s aim is to develop an affordable advanced architectural glass to handle the thermal and acoustic insulation through the combination of three different material innovations in a single product platform, scalable from Basic to Premium.

Eensulate

EENSULATE GLASS

The developing of an innovative lightweight (35% weight reduction compared to the current best-performing modules), highly insulating energy efficient components as well as associated enabling materials for cost-effective retrofitting and new construction of curtain wall facades and reducing energy bills by at least 20% while complying with the structural limits of the original building structure and national building codes are the EEnsulate goals.

The key features of this project are the EEnsulate foam and the EEnsulate glass which is composed of lightweight and thin double pane vacuum glass for the insulation of the transparent component of curtain walls.

The technical features which include the project are:
-High durability (maximum service life) of the enabling materials and overall component
-Good thermal breaks between the curtain wall and the sub-structure through the innovative spray foam
-High R-value due to the Vacuum Glass as those achievable with triple glazing systems but with lower weight and less material use

Live Project

Eensulate is studied to minimize thermal bridges between curtain walls and sub-structures, allow for an easy implementation on site by reducing the weight of the curtain wall, have cost-effective control of solar radiation and approach to insulate the spandrel.
Eensulate’s strength is to match existing façade design as well as new buildings due to the variable ratio between the spandrel and vision glass and it will be used as much as possible of the existing facade components. The key features of this project are the development of the EEnsulate foam and the EEnsulate vacuum insulated glass which will be integrated with the EENsulate façade module. The role of Focchi in EEnsulate’s project is the engineering, manufacturing and testing the EEnsulate module.
