Live Project

Vita Group’s 33-storey student accommodation tower, designed by Tim Groom Architects, occupies a prominent corner in Manchester’s First Street district.

The design combines a tall vertical tower with lower adjoining blocks, creating a gateway presence while integrating with the surrounding mid-rise context.

The building contains 861 units across four typologies, with studio apartments featuring kitchenettes, en-suite bathrooms, and study spaces, and larger units adding living areas and in-unit laundry. Communal amenities include three gyms, group study rooms, and social spaces, with 24-hour security and CCTV.

Internally, two central cores support vertical circulation and services, enabling efficient residential layouts with natural light penetration and clear circulation. The architectural concept prioritizes functional clarity, urban integration, and contextual massing, reinforcing the district’s regeneration and meeting the demand for high-quality student accommodation.
