Labics Architetti

Labics was founded in 2002 by Maria Claudia Clemente and Francesco Isidori in Rome, Italy. The office works internationally at all scales in providing solutions to contemporary architectural and urban issues. A highly collaborative, research-based design method involves clients, stakeholders and various consultants from a wide range of fields from early on in the creative process. The approach towards architecture is very rigorous and based on a dense intertwinining between research, practice and teaching since the very beginning of the each process. The work of Labics is exhibited and published worldwide and has received numerous national and international awards. The practice was nominated for the Mies Van Der Rohe Awards with both the MAST and the Città del Sole projects.

The new centre for the development of arts and technologies related to industry. This work, which extends for about 25,000 square meters in the context of the first suburbs, aims to establish a connection between business and city.

Multifunction Centre (Museum, Schools, Auditorium, restaurants and fitness centre)

MAST (Manufacture of Art, Experimentation and Technology) is a multi-purpose centre available to Coesia employees as well as the Bologna community, with many facilities that include an exhibition and museum space , an auditorium , an academy for innovation and entrepreneurship, a corporate nursery school, a wellness center, a corporate restaurant and a coffee shop open to the public.

The building, which features two pedestrian ramps located along the entrance, consists of three floors above ground and three underground levels ( containing the parking lots and deposits) for a total of 25,000 square meters and it has been designed with a double glazing façade with sustainability environmental characteristics. The overall image of MAST is a lightweight, translucent and changeable building. The patterned glazing of the cladding, which runs along the entire property , passing in front of the spandrel area , combined with the aluminum fins , returns a uniform and at the same time liquid image . At night, the building becomes a luminous object , revealing the lives of people who move within its spaces .
