Piercy & Company

The team at Piercy&Company consists of 70 architects, designers, researchers, and a communications team working within a studio space designed to support passion for materials, form, technology, and craft. The practice designs projects at all scales in some of the most historic and sensitive locations in the UK. From furniture commissions and private homes to collaborating with international businesses and fashion brands on their London headquarters, all projects have the same level of intimacy, research, and consideration.

Its architecture emerges out of a passion for context - historic, environmental, cultural, and economic, believing that cities are continuously evolving and that buildings need to be adaptable to economic, technological, and behavioural change. Regardless of type, architecture has the potential to improve the relationship with not only the fabric of the city but also the community that inhabits it.
Designing through the physical process of making has always been central to the studio's philosophy. They create new forms using traditional techniques; and explore familiar forms in experimental materials. Collaboration with academics, artists, engineers, and their ambitious clients provides this practice with an endless source of energy, inspiration and optimism for the future.

Live Project

The development of R8 at King’s Cross is situated in the North of the site with Handyside Street to the South and Beaconsfield Street to the West. It will comprise two 13-storey mixed-use buildings linked by a two-storey podium garden with landscaped roof gardens, on the podium level between the residential and office building, which will be accessible to both residents and office tenants.

Focchi Group’s work is the Western block containing 170,000 sq ft of office space with retail on the ground floor. The design, by Piercy & Co, draws inspiration from industrial warehouses, with exposed finishes and spacious high ceilings.

The office building's facade gently curves to cradle the adjacent pocket park whilst inside, a large efficient floor plate can accommodate a flexible range of workspace. Small Business and Voluntary Sector spaces are envisaged for the ground and first floor, where the building will be most publicly accessible with an active frontage. Double height voids are introduced in the centre of the first-floor floorplate to connect with the ground floor activity.
